Overview
In 2001, the St. Lawrence County Housing Council launched a new division within the organization to provide rural communities and grassroots not-for-profit organizations with technical assistance and support to develop necessary community facilities.
The Community Facilities Division seeks to stimulate reinvestment in St. Lawrence County through community development planning, downtown revitalization projects, the development of parks and open spaces, and by helping municipalities develop and maintain the infrastructures that allow for investment, growth, and health.
Over the last several years, the Housing Council and its partners have undertaken 24 separate community facilities projects, securing more than $11 million in funds.
New Projects are currently being developed in Canton, Hermon, Heuvelton, and Gouverneur.
